Invisible deck - is one of the best, most practical, flash-proof and unexplainable card tricks. From professionals on corporate events to total beginners in a friends' party - it will fit anyone and in any situation.

The story of the Invisible Deck dates back to 1923, when Leslie Henson described the effect in print for "The Magic World". Magicians Annemann, Bob Longe, Don Alan & Eddie Fields popularized and expanded on the idea later. 

One of the most popular presentations of this magic trick is quite fancy. First you pick up an "imaginary deck", and spread the cards in your hands, face up. Next you ask the spectator to "pick" a card and put it back, this time face down. Everyone will think you're fooling around. But then you proceed to open a real deck of cards, asking the spectator to name his choice out loud. To everyone's surprise, a single card is really turned face down, and, of course, that's the spectator's selection.

If you want to give David Blaine's take on this routine a shot, do the following. Ask the spectator to think of any card in the deck and offer them to change their selection multiple times before naming it out loud. Now pull out the Invisible Deck and proceed with the standard ending. It will look like real magic. Keep in mind that in the eyes of the spectators you're still operating with a Standard Bicycle deck and they won't see an exact-selection-turned-face-down scenario coming. 

If one had to base his impression of the trick from a performance standpoint from that description alone, he'd say it would be extremely difficult to pull off, but in reality it's an easy, almost self-working effect. You don't need any sleight-of-hand or clumsy gimmicks to perform it. What you WILL need is a special deck of cards however.
