Bulldog Squeezers

Back in 1877 Bulldog Squeezers, a historical deck of cards was released. Here's an excursus on how this deck obtained its name.

The vast majority of United States Playing Card Company decks have 52 cards, plus an optional pair of jokers. Also suit index is located on the upper left and lower right corners of the card. Jumbo cards have indexes in all corners. Up until 1860s cards didn't have any value indication in the corners. This means, if a player wanted to check his complete hand, he should have made a wide fan or review the cards one by one as the value and suit indication were located in the center of the card.

Approximately in 1864 producers came up with several ways to solve this problem. One of such solutions was the introduction of corner indicators, which we all know and love (at least for the opportunity to make a bubble-pick). The first deck that had this feature was called Squeezers. The name is self-explanatory, as one had to simply squeeze several cards in hand to see their hand.

Bulldog Squeezers feature unique Ace of Spades and original jokers, identical to those seen in Tally-Ho decks.
