Video of the week: Joe Porper. In motion

Joe Porper creates high-end products for magicians, all handcrafted, and also invents tons of ingenious devices, with anodized aluminium card clips being among them. This short video tells the story of a real artist and his trade.

When Dan and Dave Buck met Joe in Canoga Park, CA, USA, North Los Angeles, they felt something really special. Porper's workshop is a creative centre, full of ideas and phenomenal skills. An enclosed workshop space makes all the tools, machines, materials and sawdust look, sound and feel different, you can almost taste it. This isn't just a workshop, it's a workshop backed with the years of history. The floors are covered with wood chipper, tables are occupied with machines and the shelves are filled with everything - ranging from unfinished prototypes to gorgeous, ingenious devices. In his late 70s, Joe continues to work, dream, invent and create. Joe Porper is an endless source of inspiration for Dan and Dave and they're honoured to share his story.
