Bicycle vs Tally-Ho

Bicycle or Tally-Ho? We're getting asked the same question ever more often: which cards are better - Bicycle Rider Back or Tally-Ho #9?

The question, obviously, isn't an easy one, but the criteria of evaluating the superiority of one deck over another is quite vague. Everyone, however, needs to know which deck is better.

It's really a shame, but there's no definitive answer as it boils down to a personal taste and perception of style. And it's great.

Speaking about cardistry, many people prefer Tally-Ho #9 for card flourishes (used in the video above). This is due to softness and sturdiness of the deck. Tally-Ho Circle Back (as well as Tally-Ho Fan Back - same deck with a slightly different back design) are very soft and snappy cards, they handle great and keep shape over time. Besides, the rounded pattern on the backs of Tally-Ho #9 (a number of circles and ellipses) moves almost on its own making all sleights you perform look more difficult and visual than they really are. That's how Tally-Ho #9 playing cards made their name as cards for cardistry.

Bicycle brand and Bicycle Rider Back deck (or Bicycle Standard, pictured above) are hands down the most popular and well-known playing cards in the world.

All famous magicians prefer using Bicycle Rider Backs. Why? Simply because they can rely on the high quality product of USPCC factory and know that these cards won't let them down. Fair enough, Bicycle Rider Back feature very sturdy stock, the cards are quite thick, hence will keep its shape even in the most extreme situation, they won't fall apart or slide off in the most inappropriate moment. A durable Air Cushion finish of Rider Backs offers longevity and fanning quality. You've got to hand it to this deck: fans with Bicycle Rider Backs are buttery smooth.

But which playing cards are better? Just stating the obvious, what you're facing is essentially 54 pieces of paper. And generally speaking there's not that much of a difference between the decks. On the contrary, both USPCC brands share common features like high quality, longevity, and catching although minimalist design. If you haven't made a choice for yourself yet, and can't tell what is better: Bicycle or Tally-Ho, we advise buying both decks of cards. Only guided by your own perception and liking you would be able to make the right decision.
